Which motorcycle should I buy?
I’ve just passed my A2 motorcycle test, so I’ll soon be selling my 125 and buying a bigger bike.
I need a good all-rounded bike, it needs to be quite lightweight and small, yet comfortable, capable of cruising at 70-80 mph for long distances on dual carriageways/motorways when restriced to 33bhp. I’ll be doing some long distances on it through UK/France/Spain, so it needs to be reasonably comfortable and have luggage accessories. My budget is about £3-4k (second hand in good condition). As for the style of bike, it needs to be either a faired sports bike or naked bike, but not a cruiser or a big touring bike.
So far I’ve done a bit of research on the following bikes:
- Suzuki SV650S
- Kawasaki ER6F
- Yamaha FZ6
Which is the best? Any other suggestions?

The Suzuki has a fair amount of torque, being a V-twin design. It’s also probably the bike that you are the least likely to grow out of. I’ve ridden several SV650s on both the street and the racetrack.
