Create A Checklist To Compare Used Travel Trailers For Sale
All used travel trailers for sale will be different. Even models with the same year, make and model will differ in some way. The explanation is simple. Each travel trailer was owned by different people. That means each person customized the trailer to match their needs and it is these little things that can help you decide which used RV you want to buy.
Make a List of “Needs”
Before you ever step out the front door in search for a new or used RV, the first thing you should do is make a list of stuff your RV will need. This will differ for everyone, but here are some basic ideas.
- Number of beds needed
- Wheelchair accessible
- Awning
- Grill
- Inside/Outside Shower
- Motorcycle/ 4-wheeler lift
- Refrigerator space
- Generator power
- Towing package
Make a List of “Wants”
While the need list contains stuff your travel trailer must have in order for you to buy in, the wants list is stuff you would really like to have but is okay to purchase later. Think of it more like a customized RV.

Once you have your list ready to go, you will be better suited to start searching for used travel trailers for sale. With the list in hand, you can objectively compare different RVs. This way when you find a few that are differently priced, you can compare them in an objective manner.
It helps to create a checklist of both your needs and your wants. Then when you go looking at trailers, you can simply check off the stuff it has. Additionally, you will want an extra “other” section in case it has something you like that is not on the list.
Be sure to write the contact information and the price on the list. This way when you get home you can check your list and compare RVs. Then when you decide, you will not have to “find” the RV again because you have everything you need on the checklist.
