Is This A Good Camera?

The Make is Nikon Coolpix

Looks like you have a Nikon Coolpix L16. It’s a basic point & shoot digital that is small enough to bring anywhere. It’s similar to the L11 that I bought recently.

Let’s go over the specs.
-Body material: Plastic. – Typical material for the price and amateur user. Just don’t drop it!
· 7.1m pixels. – Average resolution, giving the ability to print out nice enlargements.
· 3 x optical zoom. – The lens can magnify the subject, bringing it 3 times closer, with great quality.
· 4 x digital zoom. – Ugh. The camera can expand the pixels to make the picture LOOK closer, but with a loss of quality. don’t use it if you can avoid it
· 2.8in LCD screen. – A very nice large screen in the back for you to view before, during, and after you take the picture.
· Anti-shake auto exposure. – Great feature! The camera can compensate for the movement of the photographer and camera and helps to eliminate blurry photos!
· Face detection – 12 faces. – The camera can be set to automatically focus on up to 12 faces, making portraits much easier to take.
· In-camera red eye fix. – If you get that dreaded “red-eye” from using the flash, the camera allows you to fix it immediately.
· SD memory card compatible. – This camera uses the most readily available, and inexpensive memory card type.
· 21Mb internal memory. – You have a large amount of memory built-in to the camera, just in case you fillup or forget the SD memory card.
· Movie capture with sound. – You can capture short low resolution videos. Great for those “just in case” situations.
· Maximum ISO range: 64-1600. ISO 64 give you very detailed pictures in bright daylight, and ISO 1600 lets you capture images without flash in dimmer situations.
· 14 scene modes. – You have 14 modes that let the camera choose the best settings. Examples would be Portrait, Scenics, Closeups, etc.
· Pictbridge compatible. – If you get or have a Pictbridge compatible printer, you can print by just connecting the camera to the printer with one cable. No computer is needed.
