Gridwall Vs. Slatwall

A lot of retail stores looking to make the most of their space will turn to gridwall or slatwall displays. Both make wonderful use of small spaces. By making use of the vertical space on your walls, you can greatly reduce the number of floor displays that you need for your store. Both are very versatile. You can constantly rearrange shelving, hooks and hanging racks to meet your inventory needs. Your clothing and other items will not be hidden from sight, crammed in tight on floor racks. Instead, they will be easily visible to anyone that passes by your store. This can easily boost sales, your customer base, and your wallet.

Slatwall is a very popular choice among retailers looking to make the most of a small space. Slatwall comes in a variety of colors and wood grains. Slatwall can be installed, by you or a contractor, directly into the studs of your store walls. You may want to hire a professional to make sure that they are anchored correctly so that they can hold the maximum weight. Slatwall panels are offered with vinyl or aluminum inserts in the slots to further increase the amount of weight that they can hold.

If you select slatwall, order your slatwall accessories as well. Inventory what you will have and determine how many shelves, hooks, hangers and bars you will need. Brushed nickel, chrome and black are popular choices. Acrylic is also used a lot to draw less attention to the hardware. You may want to use metal over acrylic for heavy items, as it is more durable. Gridwall is another popular option for utilizing space. Gridwall is also sold in panels and is basically a metal grid. Heavy gauge wire forms the grid. You can install it on the walls of your store and use gridwall accessories to display your entire inventory. Gridwall is available in black, chrome and brushed nickel. You can have your gridwall fade into the background, or stand out for an urban feel. Gridwall is very strong and can be less expensive than slatwall. You still get the versatility of rearranging items whenever you want with very little effort.

You do get one more advantage with gridwall. Grid sections are offered in a bigger variety of sizes. You can also hook sections together and create floor displays. You may decide to build a tower for accessories, or just another clothing rack that doesn’t take up the space that a big circular rack does. You can link gridwall sections together to make a wall of cubicles or free-standing cubicles for more merchandising options.

Whether you choose slatwall or gridwall for your store, you’re sure to enjoy the space that they make as well as the versatility that they provide.
