Mercedes Door Contact Switch?
Ok so in our 2000 Mercedes Benz E320 Wagon, we are having some issues. The car is doing everything it usually does as if the door is open. Such as:
1) The interior lights dont shut off and have to be turned off manually (now we keep them off all the time so we cant see when we open the doors at night)
2) When we lock the car, the lights dont flash 3xs like they used to
3) When the key is in accessory, it says
REMOVE KEY…it didnt used to do that.
We were told to change the drivers side contact swich, which we did. However, all this stuff is still happening. But when I push in the contact switch all the way, things work normally. I would stand outside the car with the door open and hold down the switch. Then I would lock the doors or stick the keys in accessory and everything would go back to normal. Then when I let go of the switch, everything goes back to being messed up. There isnt a piece missing on the door. Im sure that if I attached it would work. (not permanant). ???
There actually may be a small piece missing from the door that helps make the contact switch fully depressed when the door is closed. You may be able to contact your local MB parts dept to find out about that part. Otherwise, your door may need to be realigned.
