Saddle of the Bike too high?
Hello, I have made my saddle higher so I can fit both my Pannier Rack and Dog Walking Lead. I can put my toes on the floor, this is OK yes?
I would probably fall if trying to get off going downhill but can I have advice on how to do this without taking the saddle down?
My bike has got all the accessories I need now and I am hoping I don’t have to take any off.

Gosh i am very sorry to you all, by toes i meant the toes of one foot. and other foot on the peddle of the other side.
The best people to help you get your saddle height (and fore-aft adjustment) correct are at your local bike shop. They are qualified to do this and have some special equipment that makes the job more scientific.
If you want to do this yourself, there are few different ways to check your saddle height yourself. All of them are approximations. You start there and then make tweaks over time as you ride the bike.
The first, and most commonly recommended, is that with the ball of your foot directly over the pedal axle, your knee should be slightly bent when the pedal is at the bottom of the stroke (6 o’clock). If your knee is locked, your saddle is too high. If you have to “reach” for the pedal at the bottom of the stroke, then your saddle is too high.
Another approximation is to put your heel in the middle of the pedal. Your leg should be fully extended with the knee locked when you’re at the bottom of the stroke. My experiments are that this technique and the first one, above, yield just about the same result.
Finally, if your hips are rocking when you pedal then the saddle is too high.
As I’ve said, these are starting places. In general, I like my saddle a bit higher (.5 – 1 cm) than what these techniques indicate. It feels a drop too high when I first start riding but then feels perfect after I warm up for about 5-10 minutes.
