Birthday present ideas for a (home) vinyl DJ?

I don’t know a thing about DJ equipment but I really want to buy something for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. He has vinyl decks, the headphones and some sort of mixer. Without me asking him, has anyone got any ideas as to the kind of accessories I can look to get him?
I really dont mind how much I spend, its his 30th so just want to get something he will love, and I want it to be something he can keep.

I ended finding his favourite CD on vinyl which I know he has been trying to find so went with that for his birthday! Your other ideas will give me something to work on for his Christmas present so appreciate your help!

There are a few options, actually, depending on your budget.

The first (and cheapest) being a *GOOD* record cleaner, such as Gruv-Glide, which may be found at http://www.pssl.com/!KLZUGNiejUMxMQvQg4B2SQ!/Gruv-Glide-Anti-Static-Record-Cleaner — It’s the standard cleaner. Even cheaper is the Stanton Carbon Fiber Brush, at $19.99 from http://www.pssl.com/Stanton-CFB1-Carbon-Fiber-Brush — I normally do NOT recommend Stanton but the carbon fiber brush they have just work awesomely.

Moving on from that price range, you can get accessories like metal colored turntable covers (such as blue, yellow, red) or single styluses. With the styluses though, you HAVE to look at what he has and kinda poke and prod a bit to be sure he likes them. Some DJs change their styles or want different styluses due to sound or volume problems. Ortofon and Shure are both good brands for those. Other gifts I would like would be a task light (http://www.pssl.com/Gooseneck-Task-Lights ), a gig bag (http://www.pssl.com/lp/DJCasesGigBags.rsp ), maybe a laptop stand for recording. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

Also, most DJs, even home DJs, enjoy having some lights when they get in “TheMood” to spin. A cheap light from spencers or a higher quality version from a music store or PSSL.com, which project an image or images on walls and spins around or something would be nice. Lights definitely put you in a mood.

Hell, if there’s a local record shop which has his favorite genre near you (which may or may not be there, they’re going away quickly) buy him a gift certificate. I’ll say I’ve received DJ gifts through the years and the certificates meant the most, as it let me pick the music or equipment I want. However some people still think certificates aren’t “personal” enough.

Whatever you do, make sure he keeps the records spinnin’.
