Apple displays are way too overpriced!!. They may have slightly better quality, but unless you are a professional photographer doing lot of photo editing work, an Apple display is an overkill.
If you can spend $600, then why not get a non-apple 24” ? There will be a big difference going from a 22″ to a 24″. Otherwise go with the DELL 22″.
P.S I’m not sure, but most likely DELL SP2208WFP is using a 6-bit TN panel, most probably you won’t notice a difference between a 6-bit (16.2 million colors with dithering) panel and an 8-bit (true 16.7million colors) monitor. But this is one of the reasons why DELL is cheaper (or any other 22” in the same price range). I have a 22” iiyama (6-bit TN panel) monitor, and quite happy with it. For games and movies you won;t notice any difference at all.
